Lingerie Sizes are Important for Fun and Comfort

We purchase lingerie for many reasons. For a bit of extra fun and excitement with our partner, to make our clothes fit us better, to feel sexy and even a bit mysterious – a sheer lingerie bra and panty set, or a transparent lingerie camisole are great examples of typical lingerie. But all of the reasons for buying lingerie can be ruined if we do not buy items that fit well.

For women it is critical to be honest and accurate in measuring for lingerie. Know your accurate bra size; there is a special way to measure a woman correctly for a bra. Take a measurement directly under the breasts, note the number – if it is an even number then add an additional 4” to this measurement, if it is an odd number add and additional 5” to this measurement. Next measure the full bust, including the breasts, rounding to the nearest whole number. Subtract your primary, or band measurement, from your full bust measurement. For each of difference between these two measurements your bra would generally increase by one cup size. Be aware that this is a general guide to proper bra measurement, some manufacturers may not follow this method. You should also know your underwear size.

Traditional lingerie is made of durable fabrics, created to be worn on a daily basis. But a great deal of lingerie is not made for day to day wear, and these items are made from much more delicate and exotic garment materials. Sheer lingerie and transparent lingerie are made from lace and nylon to delicate crochet and chiffon. These fabrics and materials can make a great difference in the lingerie sizes required. If something has a great deal of stretch or “give” to it, then sizes must be thoroughly reviewed. If something is made from a fabric that doesn’t offer a lot of stretch then that too can make for a difference in lingerie sizes.
